A new chapter of the project 'Sore Spot Songs' will open at Kunst & Zwalm, a biennial art walk in the Flemish countryside. Esther Mugambi and I, operating under the name 'Agripuncture' for these works on situated memories, have been mapping out the painful histories of the Zwalm area which will form the base for a new Sore Spot Song. On show for 3 weekends starting August 30th. See link for info and event dates
Museum De Lakenhal has acquired material and immaterial parts of the installation Majalla's Mantel. This collaborative work was created in 2024/25 with/by heritage specialist Alicia Hoost, writer and performer Esther Mugambi, visual artist Eugenie Boon, textile artist Claire Zandvliet and myself. In this research and exhibition project commissioned by De Lakenhal in Leiden, our work on the (un)touchability of archival materials, continued, this time focusing on the painful intertwinings between the slave and textile trades.
